Down The Gentoo Hole

Once upon a time, a fervent Arch Linux advocate desired to switch to Gentoo. Not only his own kin had recommended it to him, but his research had also led him to believe that it was the promised land from his wildest dreams. Yet he never once had dared and taken the first step on that formidable journey. His eternal thirst for knowledge, but also his quest toward absolute freedom eventually succeeded in convincing him. This is how, after many a year roaming through the Arch realm, dear Phil Wayne made up his mind and took the plunge down the rabbit hole, straight into the abyss of Gentoo Land. From Arch Linux To Gentoo

The day has finally come for me to take a drastic step as a Linux user. A step I have been waiting to take for long enough. If you have read the title, you must have guessed it : As I am writing these very lines, my time on Arch Linux is running to an end. Goodbye my dear friend! The adventure has been memorable, and you will always remain in my heart. Yet I need to move forward and quench this insatiable thirst for knowledge of mine. I need even more freedom. I need Gentoo. YouTube Goals, Dwm + St & Other

This post is a little special, since I am writing it to describe my situation and my current state of mind. I would also like to share my latest video with you, which I am quite happy with. Should You Run Arch-Based Distributions Or Vanilla Arch

My Dearest Mad-Readers, I cannot help but sighing when I think of GNU/Linux distributions. It is such a weary topic and… Well, only if you make it so, actually. There is not much of a point criticizing GNU/Linux distributions, especially when you believe they all roughly are the same. Indeed, all of us are running Linux, in the end… There is a point in discussing … Continue reading Should You Run Arch-Based Distributions Or Vanilla Arch

Learn Linux Basics

Not long ago, I shot a video about the 5 most basic Linux commands a beginner should know. I began my learning journey with this lot, and I found it most satisfying. Of course, I spent little time in the terminal back then, compared to today, but I still felt like a magician. Have you ever performed an update from terminal ? It could not be easier, yet seeing the lines of text crazily going down in that black box is something I have never gotten tired of. Continue reading Learn Linux Basics

MOC : A Music Player For Terminal

As a minimalist, I like utilizing the most lightweight tools and programs. I want to have a simple lifestyle, and being able to play music directly from terminal echoes this volition. When it comes to choosing which piece of software is right for me, I will rather believe in performance than in a falsely appealing design which will consume all my RAM in the background. Presentation Of My Dotfiles

I would like to share my personal configuration files with you (aka dotfiles). If you are not running GNU/Linux, it may give you an idea of what dotfiles are, but even if you are, beginners and some more advanced users may appreciate to find some model to inspire them. Of course, all my programs are not fully configured but some are riced to my liking and I am eager to present them to you ! Continue reading Presentation Of My Dotfiles

Which Gnu/Linux Distribution You Use Does Not Matter

I would like to use some ink on a topic which has already been explored at length, today : which Linux distribution should you run as your main desktop OS and why it does not matter. I know there is a lot of hate all over social networks from Ubuntu users (and other Debian-based distros) toward Arch users and vice versa, since everyone is convinced their ways are better than the others’.
